We have this thing, women in general and moms specifically. Im not sure about other cultures but in the Filipino culture, it is prevalent. Were always apologizing for things that are not our fault, for things we have no control of, and for things we believe in.

I’m sorry the house is a mess!

I’m sorry for this question…

I’m sorry for being oversensitive…

I’m sorry my hair is a mess.

I’m sorry I bumped into you (when clearly its an accident and the other person is more at fault)

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get back to you immediately

I’m sorry but I can’t…

This is so ingrained in us that we do it on auto pilot, apologizing for the smallest things that are not even our fault.
